The Piccola Società Cooperativa Messina Agrumi is situated
inside Mount Etna Park, in Fleri, a small village next
to Zafferana Etnea.
The company was founded 120 years ago and has been owned and
managed by four different generations.
It was established as a sole proprietorship in 1880 by Salvatore
Messina who marketed only in Sicily.
In 1930 his son Giuseppe
enlarged the market and sold his products all over Italy.
From 1972 the company has been managed by his sons Salvatore
e Giovanni Messina who moved the company into the current premises
and started marketing and packaging for themselves and other
producers.
In 1983 the company creates the "Fiore di Sicilia"
label and wins the prize "Ercole d'oro - per qualità
e impegno di uomini ed aziende".
In 1995 it changes its name to Piccola Società Cooperativa
and includes as partners Giuseppe and Giuseppe Daniele, the
new generation.
The company specializes in citrus fruit marketing and creates
the Miss Europa label. |
